Kyrie Irving Injury: Celtics Star Out Vs. 76ers; Status Uncertain After That

The Boston Celtics might have dodged a bullet with Kyrie Irving’s latest knee injury, but that doesn’t mean the Celtics star won’t miss time.

Irving’s knee ailment prompted an early exit from the Celtics’ embarrassing loss Saturday night at home against the Los Angeles Clippers, but the good news was that testing found no structural damage in Irving’s knee.

However, Brad Stevens told reporters Monday that Irving’s strained right knee will at least keep him out of Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers, and his status for Wednesday’s game against the Detroit Pistons is up in the air.

This isn’t a great time for the Celtics to be missing their best player. Despite recent success, Saturday’s loss has led to a lot of discussion about the team’s culture, and Boston is entering a brutal stretch of its schedule. Seven of the Celtics’ next nine games are against current playoff teams, and that includes games against Philadelphia, Milwaukee and Toronto — three of the four best teams in the East — over the next two weeks.
