Josh Gordon had zero impact on Super Bowl LIII, but the star receiver still was a major reason why the New England Patriots made it to Atlanta in the first place.
And for those contributions, Gordon is being rewarded.
Gordon, who remains in rehab while serving his latest suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, will receive a Super Bowl ring, according to NESN.com’s Doug Kyed. The 27-year-old played in just 11 games for New England before being placed back on the commissioner’s exempt list for providing diluted drug test samples.
Despite being unable to help his teammates on the field, Gordon expressed pride and joy throughout the Patriots’ playoff run, including after their defeat of the Los Angeles Rams in the Big Game.
Gordon caught 40 passes for 720 yards and three touchdowns during his abbreviated season. He still is on New England’s roster, and seemingly could return to the team next season, should the league grant him reinstatement.
