2020 Beanpot Live: Highlights, Updates For BC-BU Semifinal Game

(2OT, 12:40, 5-4 BU): The Boston University Terriers are headed to the 2020 Beanpot Final to take on the Northeastern Huskies! Wilmer Skoog scores the winner for BU.

(2OT, 20:00, 4-4): Here. We. Go.

Next goals wins it and sends that team to the Beanpot Final.

(Overtime, 0:00, 4-4): We remain tied. We now will go to 2OT.

Here are the new overtime rules:

(End of the third, 4-4): Wow.

Ashton Abel made some timely, game-saving stops in the final 10 seconds to help send this one to overtime.

The Eagles have the edge in shots, 37-30.

(Third Period, 57.9, 4-4): Buckle up, everybody.

The Eagles just tied the game in the final minute thanks to David Cotton’s second of the night.

(Third Period, 1:42, 4-3 BU): Once down 3-1, the Terriers now lead with just 1:42 left to play.

Robert Mastrosimone is fed a pass across the crease and pots his sixth goal of the season.

(Third Period, 6:14, 3-3): We have ourselves a tie game, folks.

Not even a minute later Patrick Harper helps out again, but this time evens the score with a snipe goal with just over six minutes to play.

(Third Period, 7:24 3-2 BC): The Terriers wasted no time finding the back of the net on the 4-on-4 with a slick goal from David Farrance off the face-off with help from a nice set up by Patrick Harper to beat Spencer Knight to bring BU within a goal.

It still will be on the power play.

(Third Period, 7:32, 3-1 BC): It will be 4-on-4 for 11 seconds as BC’s Luke McInnis goes to the penalty box.

(Third Period, 9:22, 3-1 BC): BC now heads to the power play. Logan Cockerill heads to the box for hooking.

(Third Period, 16:32, 3-1 BC): BU gets the first power play of the third period after Logan Hutsko goes off for tripping.

(Third Period, 20:00, 3-1 BC): The final 20 minutes have begun. A trip the Beanpot Final is on the line.

(End of the second): BC gets a late goal (with help from BU) to take a 3-1 lead into the third. The Eagles are outshooting the Terriers 25-16.

(Second Period, 2:12, 3-1 BC): The Eagles get lucky. Logan Hutsko got the puck in front of the net before it ricocheted off Alex Vlasic and past Ashton Abel. BC captain David Cotton gets credit for the tally as the Eagles take a 3-1 lead.

(Second Period, 2:38, 2-1 BC): Ashton Abel made a sweet glove save on a Jesper Mattila opportunity to prevent BC from going up by two.

(Secomd Period, 4:35, 2-1 BC): The Terriers once again had a prime chance to tie things up but it was Spencer Knight once again standing tall between the pipes.

(Second Period, 8:53, 2-1 BC): Spencer Knight just came up huge for BC, stopping what would have been the game-tying goal on a point-blank shot from Patrick Harper.

(Second Period, 10:00, 2-1 BC): Halfway through the second period and BU only has three shots on net to the Eagles’ seven.

(Second Period, 13:15, 2-1 BC): Tempers are starting to flare a bit as both teams get into a small kerfuffle behind the Terriers’ net.

(Second Period, 15:21, 2-1 BC): BU kills the penalty and we’re back to even strength.

(Second Period, 17:21, 2-1 BC), The Eagles will head to the power play after Cam Crotty heads to the box for cross-checking.

(Second Period, 17:26, 2-1 BC): A couple nice chances for BU, but Spencer Knight was able to stand tall and not let the equalizer in.

Alex Newhook nearly potted his second goal of the game and looked poised to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead, but Domenick Fensore came up with a big block in front of the net.

(Second Period, 20:00, 2-1 BC): The second period has begun with BC leading 2-1.

(End of the first period): That’ll do it for the first period. The Eagles hold a slim 2-1 lead over the Terriers, while outshooting them 10-7.

(First Period, 10:47, 2-1 BC): BU gets on the board with a power-play goal of its own when Patrick Curry finished off a Logan Cockerill one-timer to beat Spencer Knight to extend his team lead to 15 goals, including five against BC.

(First Period, 11:26, 2-0 BC): The Terriers now are headed to the power play. Logan Hutsko was whistled for a high stick.

(First Period, 12:41, 2-0 BC): That didn’t take long. The Eagles double their lead just 12 seconds in thanks to a power-play top-shelf goal off the stick of Alex Newhook.

(First Period, 12:53, 1-0 BC): BC will head to the games first power play. David Farrance is sent off for two minutes for tripping.

(First Period, 17:45, 1-0 BC): The Eagles take the first lead of the game! Patrick Giles beats Ashton Abel for the 1-0 lead.

(First Period, 20:00, 0-0) The puck has dropped and the first period has begun for the 2020 Beanpot.

7:50 p.m. ET: Good evening from TD Garden where the BC Eagles and BU Terriers are set to battle it out in the 2020 Beanpot semifinal.

BOSTON — The 2020 Beanpot finally is here.

The Northeastern Huskies defeated the Harvard Crimson 3-1 in their semifinal game, sending the Huskies to their third straight Beanpot Championship.

The Boston College Eagles and Boston University Terriers are up next when the puck drops at 8:40 p.m. ET at TD Garden.
