NFL Rumors: Bill Belichick Has Two Preferences For Next Job

Bill Belichick reportedly “fully intends” to coach again after striking out this offseason, but he might not jump at just any NFL opportunity next year.

Colin Cowherd on Wednesday addressed a recent Belichick report that claimed the New England Patriots legend is prepared to do what it takes to keep himself relevant in NFL circles, such as various media stints. And within the segment on FS1’s “The Herd,” Cowherd revealed inside information about what Belichick will be looking for when he tries to land a new coaching job.

“I’ve heard two things about Belichick and I trust my sources on this,” Cowherd said. “He would rather stay out East. He’s got his place in Nantucket, he golfs down in Jupiter, Fla. Bill doesn’t have any interest in moving everybody out West. The second thing: He would like the quarterback situation to be stable. The instability post-(Tom) Brady was his downfall.”

Time will tell if Belichick will have the opportunity to be selective on the open market. After all, there were nearly 10 head coaching openings this past offseason, and Belichick reportedly only interviewed with one of those franchises.

But time can heal all wounds, and a year away from the sideline could do wonders for Belichick in terms of rebuilding his stock. And if he does put a headset back on, Belichick’s next team likely will be bringing on a coach motivated as ever to shift the narrative following his twilight years in New England.
