Jacoby Brissett Takes Jab At Media After Leading Patriots To Win

'I'm very proud of myself'

A few weeks after losing his job, Jacoby Brissett played an integral role in the Patriots’ second win of the season.

Brissett was thrust into action early in the second quarter Sunday after starting quarterback Drake Maye sustained a concussion. While the 31-year-old didn’t dazzle against the New York Jets, he made a handful of crucial plays in the Week 8 contest at Gillette Stadium. The lion’s share of those highlights were on New England’s final drive, which saw Jerod Mayo’s side score the game-winning touchdown with only 22 seconds left on the clock.

After the game, Brissett was asked how it felt to write a “redemption story” after taking a backseat to the Patriots’ future of the franchise. The veteran signal-caller didn’t really view his performance in that light, but he did take a little dig at the media.

“No redemption. I think this is a testament to me believing in myself and not y’all,” Brisstt told reporters. “I’m very aware of that. I was very fortunate to have this opportunity to go out there and get a win with our guys. It was sweet. You can’t put it into words. I’m not trying to be arrogant or anything, but I’m very proud of myself today.”

Brissett might have an opportunity to lead New England to back-to-back wins for the first time since the 2022 season. If Maye doesn’t clear the NFL’s concussion protocol by Sunday, it will be Brissett leading the Patriots against the 1-6 Titans in Tennessee.

And if Brissett does take the field at Nissan Stadium, it’s clear he will do so plenty of confidence.
