Ryan Fitzpatrick Shades Tom Brady For Baker Mayfield Clapback

Fitzpatrick didn't care for Brady's response to Mayfield

The recent back-and-forth between Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield doesn’t seem like it’s going to balloon into a full-blown feud.

But if it was heading in that direction, Ryan Fitzpatrick knows whose side he would take.

Mayfield recently claimed Buccaneers players were “stressed out” by Brady toward the end of the legendary quarterback’s tenure in Tampa Bay. Brady fired back Sunday when he was at Raymond James Stadium to call the Bucs’ Week 4 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, noting he wasn’t running a “daycare” in Central Florida and strove to instill “a mindset of a champion.”

The clip back didn’t sit well with Ryan Fitzpatrick, a former journeyman quarterback who was challenged to ingratiate himself with nine different teams over the course of his career.

“Sick burn @TomBrady way to cut @bakermayfield down to size….cant believe he has had the nerve to win over the Bucs locker room and fans with his playing style and personality,” Fitzpatrick posted to X on Sunday.

Mayfield insisted his aforementioned Brady remark was “taken out of context” and acknowledged the latter’s leadership style can’t really be criticized given his seven Super Bowl rings. Brady also doesn’t appear to have a problem with Mayfield, as he gave the 2018 No. 1 overall pick a special award after throwing for 347 yards with two touchdowns Sunday.

Brady probably will be seeing more of Mayfield this season, as the Bucs looked like one of the NFC’s better teams through four weeks.
