The New England Patriots are interested in having someone with the last name Brady be the team’s offensive coordinator.
Marcus Brady that is.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Friday night that the Patriots requested to interview Los Angeles Chargers passing game coordinator Marcus Brady for their open offensive coordinator position. The Patriots reportedly have already interviewed one candidate for that job.
Brady, 45, has previous experience as an offensive coordinator. He served in that role for two seasons with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 and 2022. Brady delivered mix results as the Colts finished ninth in the league in scoring during his first season as the team’s offensive coordinator. The unit regressed the following season when it started Matt Ryan, Sam Ehlinger and Nick Foles at quarterback, tallying 17 points per game, which ranked second-to-last in the NFL.
Brady, a former collegiate quarterback at Cal State Northridge, jumped into coaching in the Canadian Football League where he was a wide receivers coach for the Montreal Alouettes for three seasons before he served as the Toronto Argonauts offensive coordinator for six years.

He then made the jump to the NFL in 2018 with the Colts on Frank Reich’s staff. Brady started off as an assistant quarterbacks coach before shedding the assistant label for two seasons.
Brady’s two-year run as the Colts offensive coordinator came to an end when he was fired following a 3-4-1 start to the 2022 campaign. He then joined Nick Sirianni, who he replaced as the Colts offensive coordinator, and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023 as a senior offensive assistant.
Brady got the opportunity this season to work alongside Justin Herbert, who completed 65.9% of his passes for 3,870 yards with 23 touchdowns and three interceptions. His work with Herbert is noteworthy since the Patriots are looking for an offensive coordinator who can further develop Drake Maye following a promising rookie season.
