The Red Sox and Jarren Duran reached an agreement on a contract Friday.

Boston announced in a press release that the club and the All-Star outfielder agreed to a one-year contract for this season. The deal also includes a club option for 2026.

Duran’s contract includes $3.75 million for 2025 and an $8 million club option. The deal also includes a $100,000 buyout, according to The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier and The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

There are also multiple salary escalators for 2026. If Duran finishes top-20 in MVP, he’ll earn an extra $1 million, and that number rises a million with each extra ladder with a max of $4 million if the 28-year-old wins MVP. That means it’s a max club option of $12 million and if Duran doesn’t finish in the top 20 in MVP voting but is named second-team All-MLB, then there is a $500,000 escalator. The 2024 All-Star Game MVP finished eighth in American League MVP voting last year.

The Red Sox outfielder also can earn $50,000 bonuses for 450, 500 and 550 plate appearances for a max of $150,000; Duran led MLB with 671 plate appearances last season.
