The Celtics didn’t exactly get busy prior to the NBA’s trade deadline on Thursday, but they could in the coming days.

Boston’s only move was essentially a salary dump, as Jaden Springer was sent to the Houston Rockets as a way to reduce the luxury tax number by over $15 million heading into the summer.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat and… well, pretty much everyone else, did make meaningful moves, however. The C’s were hamstrung considering their tax situation, but things can still happen!

The Celtics are expected to focus on the buyout market to add to their roster, per The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, but they can’t sign any player who made above mid-level exception ($12.8 million) before being waived. Boston can’t skip over making an addition, either, as they’re still one player short of the roster minimum (14).

Who will they look to sign?

Daniel Theis and Lonnie Walker IV are a couple of options, with both having familiarity with the organization.

Theis was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday, just hours after being acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans. Theis was only being paid roughly $2 million, too, which means he’d be a relatively easy addition to make.

Walker’s potential arrival is a bit more difficult to forecast. The Celtics watched the six-year veteran make the most of his Exhibit 10 contract opportunity during the preseason, but it wasn’t enough to earn a spot on the active roster. Walker would move on to join Zalgiris Kaunas of the Euroleague, with that contract including a buyout clause that can be exercised on Feb. 18.

Seth Curry, Cam Reddish, Josh Richardson, Patty Mills, P.J. Tucker, Reggie Jackson, Johnny Davis, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Torrey Craig and Chris Duarte are all available to be signed, as well.

Who would you pick, folks? Theis, Walker or someone else?
