The Boston Red Sox feel the same level of excitement as their fanbase following the signing of infielder Alex Bregman.

Bregman arrives after signing a three-year, $120 million deal with the Red Sox, filling the franchise’s long search for a right-handed bat. It also uplifted the team at spring training from manager Alex Cora to chief baseball officer Craig Breslow and the entire clubhouse.

“The boys are buzzing, to be honest,” Red Sox outfielder Rob Refsnyder told MLB Network Radio Sunday. “You hear a lot about him from the league, just like how respected he is in the Astros clubhouse, around the league. To have somebody his size and to be able to generate that much power and extra-base hits, it’s always just exciting to learn from somebody like that. So the boys are buzzing, man. He’s the real deal. He came in and as advertised.”

Cora campaigned for Bregman’s arrival months before it came to life, speaking to the two-time World Series champion’s work ethic demonstrated through his nine-year run with the Astros. Boston’s skipper was a bench coach in Houston in 2017 and watched Bregman’s impact first-hand during the team’s first run to a World Series title. Now, Bregman will aim to bring that championship pedigree to the Red Sox as the team strives for a postseason spot for the first time since 2021.

Bregman’s off to a strong start, leaving an even stronger impression on the team. Refsnyder revealed that even though the team was slated to undergo a workout session Sunday, Bregman elected to get some non-mandatory swings in the batting cage.

“Any time you can get in the cage with somebody who’s as accomplished as Bregman, you just wanna pick his brain, just kind of hear his Qs, his external thoughts,” Refsnyder said. “So I just hung around the cage with him, watched him work. He’s already getting after it and it’s just exciting to see somebody that accomplished — someone who just got a really nice contract — just keep working. It’s just super humbling just to kind of be around somebody like that.”
