GAME INFORMATION
The Chiefs defeated the Eagles, 38-35, in Super Bowl LVII two seasons ago, meaning this will be the second consecutive season that the former will look to defeat the same opponent twice in five years. Kansas City defeated San Francisco in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LVIII.
Kansas City is looking to become the first team to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
Kendrick Lamar — fresh off of a few more wins at the Grammy Awards — will headline the halftime show, making his second appearance on the stage after performing alongside Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Eminem at SoFi Stadium in 2022. SZA also will be performing, with special guests possibly making an appearance.

BETTING INFORMATION
Kansas City will defend its crown as a slight favorite, with most sportsbooks essentially making this one a pick ’em.
The Chiefs are 4-6 against the spread in their last 10 games. The Eagles are 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 games.

Eagles (30-21)
Philadelphia is a better football team, and I won’t be scared off of believing they’re the best team in football just because the dudes on the other side have been there and done that. Kansas City has overcome a two-score deficit in each of its Super Bowl victories during the Patrick Mahomes-Andy Reid era, but this defense is too good for them to be able to do it a fourth time.
Fly Eagles Fly.
MVP: DeVonta Smith (+6500 at DraftKings Sportsbook)
Smith is a big-game player, combining for 26 receptions, 421 yards and four touchdowns across four appearances in the CFP National Championship and Super Bowl. Saquon Barkley is going to keep people honest, and that should allow for some potential big shots to the most forgotten-about star on the field. (I couldn’t pass up on those odd, either.

Prop: Saquon Barkley O21.5 rushing attempts (-124 at DraftKings)
You saved him for a reason, right?
Jason Ounpraseuth
Chiefs (31-24)
The Eagles are a powerhouse in the trenches, but I’m putting my faith in Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo’s ability to gameplan and outcoach Nick Sirianni and his staff. Kansas City hasn’t given up a 100-yard rusher in 18 straight playoff games, and I have no faith in Jalen Hurts if Saquon Barkley can’t get going. Patrick Mahomes and company get the job done for a third straight year in a row.
MVP: Patrick Mahomes (+120 at DraftKings)
It’s a boring pick, but there’s a reason why Travis Kelce and Xavier Worthy have high odds. Mahomes can spread it around and use his legs to develop long drives. I’m expecting a high-scoring game, so Chris Jones is out. And with a close game, Mahomes is going to have the ball in his hands and steal the show.
Prop: Kendrick Lamar First Song — “Squabble Up” +400 (BetOnline)
“Humble” is the favorite, and it’s a good song. However, the “sit down, be humble” hook doesn’t feel like a good way to start out a halftime show. It would be hilarious if “Not Like Us” opened and closed the show, but I’m going with “Squabble Up” as a good way to get fans rocking in the lead-up to the main event.

Ricky Doyle
Eagles (27-23)
Philadelphia is the better team by nearly every statistical measure — rush offense, pass offense, rush defense and pass defense — and yet enters as the underdog thanks to the mystique of Kansas City. Don’t live in fear. Is there a chance Patrick Mahomes does Patrick Mahomes things? Sure. But the Eagles are capable of owning the trenches, disrupting the legendary Chiefs quarterback and positioning their own offensive skill players to feast. Overall roster talent wins out this time around.
MVP: Jalen Hurts (+350 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
It’s rare you can grab a quarterback at these odds, especially in what’s essentially a coin-flip matchup. That’s the Saquon Barkley effect. The Eagles have several viable MVP candidates, given their various paths to victory, but Hurts is a solid choice based on his rushing prowess (a couple of touchdowns?) and the likelihood of Philadelphia needing its passing attack this week.
Prop: Nolan Smith 2+ sacks (+486 at DraftKings)
The Chiefs’ offensive line has been in flux all season — and the interior looks particularly vulnerable. That bodes well for Jalen Carter’s game-wrecking ability, but don’t be surprised if Smith is the statistical beneficiary off the edge. Jawaan Taylor remains shaky at right tackle for KC.
Mike Cole
Chiefs (27-20)
We’ve been waiting all year for the nail-biting Chiefs to get got, and it largely hasn’t happened. They’re not just lucky — there’s obvious skill in winning close (and often times, low-scoring) games, and no one feels more comfortable in that tight spot than Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid. They’re comfortable being uncomfortable and just need to weather any storm. The defense will limit the Eagles’ big-play potential, and if push comes to shove in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs — with the coaching and QB edge — will have just enough to make history.

MVP: Travis Kelce (+1500 at DraftKings)
This is a late-week epiphany. Mahomes will probably win it, but this hasn’t been an especially impressive statistical run for him. The same can be said for Kelce, but in a one-game setting, a game that might be the final of his career, he’s the go-to guy. For whatever reason, I keep thinking of the Patriots-Steelers Week 15 game in 2017 when New England won in Pittsburgh behind nine catches for 168 yards from Rob Gronkowski with 69 (nice) coming on the final drive. If he hoovers up, let’s say 65% of Mahomes’ yards, he could win it.
Prop: Philadelphia +1.5 1Q PLUS Kansas City Game ML (+240 at FanDuel)
The Chiefs have trailed or been tied after the first in each of their last three Super Bowls. In their two most recent wins, they trailed by a combined 17 points at the half. It’s, again, very Patriots-esque, where New England would start slow, use the long halftime to its advantage, and find a way to win it late. KC fits that mold.
Tim Crowley
Chiefs (27-24)
The Eagles put on a show in the first Super Bowl matchup and have a more complete roster this time, but the Chiefs always seem to have the crucial play in the fourth quarter. They do just enough to finish the three-peat.
MVP: Mahomes
I thought about picking Xavier Worthy, but it’s Mahomes.
Prop: Anytime D/ST TD (+290 at DraftKings)
