The Red Sox reportedly agreed to a deal to acquire a right-handed bat who will reunite with familiar faces in the clubhouse.

Boston reportedly agreed to a three-year, $120 million deal with Alex Bregman on Wednesday. Fans and ownership were excited about the reported deal that pushed the Red Sox into contention for the American League East crown. Players also were ecstatic about the reports, including Bregman’s co-horse owner.

“He knows himself. He struggled a little bit in the first half, and I talked to him, and he just said ‘I just gotta be me again’ and get back to what he had always felt,” Walker Buehler told reporters in Fort Myers, Fla. on Thursday, as seen on NESN. “Ever since I’ve seen him play, he’s been one of the better players on the field starting at LSU as a freshman. Just continue that over, very confident player and a guy who I think will handle Boston well hopefully and has played really well at Fenway. I’m excited about it.”

Bregman adds more championship experience to a young Boston roster. It seemed to be an intentional strategy with other additions like Buehler and Aroldis Chapman. That experience and leadership skills could benefit the Red Sox and help them achieve their goals.

“I think every guy we’ve added this year has some level of that. Obviously he has the championship pedigree and a lot of success in Houston and even LSU,” Buehler said. “The more you can kind of go through those experiences and play in the playoffs and play in big games, that carries over and I think both of us over the last six, seven, eight years have kind of gotten to experience that and are looking forward to doing that here.”
