It seemed like a typical day to bash the Patriots on “Felger and Mazz” — until the Patriots reportedly agreed to a marquee signing.
Milton Williams and New England reportedly agreed to a four-year, $104 million deal with $63 million guaranteed Monday. The former Philadelphia Eagles star confirmed the reports on social media and helped Mike Vrabel’s side deliver on their “aggressive” plan for free agency.
It also provided Patriots fans with wonderful karma.
Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti are never afraid to criticize New England. Sometimes, their rants are justified. However, Felger provided fans with a hilarious moment that showed the beauty of live radio.
“Have you extended yourself? No,” Felger said. “Have you convinced someone to come here who has no reason to be here? Categorically, not. So, like, you haven’t really done anything other than improve the team at the margins you’d like to think. And in the aggregate, when you add up all the money, you’re gonna be able to say, ‘They spent.’ I guess we have breaking news.

“(Williams signing got revealed on air.) So that’s gonna stop me in my tracks.”
Felger and Massarotti, who also had his own Patriots rant, gave New England credit where credit was due. Before the reported Williams agreement, the Patriots reportedly agreed to deals with players with connections to the coaching staff. Carlton Davis was a marquee agreement before the Williams news. However, the cornerback knew defensive coordinator Terrell Williams from the Detroit Lions.
The Patriots likely aren’t done after the reported Williams agreement, and it seems like they’ve bought some good faith from fans, especially after Felger’s viral moment.
