Red Sox fans got an expanded look at what to expect from “The Clubhouse: A Year with the Red Sox.”
Netflix released the first trailer for the docuseries that chronicles the 2024 season Wednesday. The eight-episode series promises a behind-the-scenes look at the mental and physical pressures of playing in Major League Baseball from the players to the managers to the front office.
The trailer sets up how important the Red Sox are to the City of Boston, with a clip of MassLive’s Sean McAdam highlighting the club’s inconsistent performance in recent seasons.
Multiple cuts of players like Triston Casas and Jarren showing off their emotions were interspersed with clips of pitching coach Andrew Bailey talking about the grind of a 162-game season. The trailer showed clubhouse footage of manager Alex Cora motivating his team. Fans also can expect a look at chief baseball officer Craig Breslow during trade deadline season, along with the loved ones of Red Sox players talking about the effect MLB can have on their personal lives.
It’s not a spoiler to point out that Boston finished 81-81 in 2024. However, the inside look at an MLB is unprecedented for the sport and could help garner interest in this year’s team, similar to how other Netflix docuseries like “Full Swing” or “Drive to Survive” helped increase interest in their respective sports.
