Bill Belichick — and his team — played the hits in a recent interview with “CBS Mornings.”
Before Jordon Hudson shut down a question about her relationship with Belichick, the legendary head coach was reminded by interviewer Tony Dokoupil that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is not mentioned once in Belichick’s new book, “The Art of Winning.”
“He’s not,” Belichick told Dokoupil. “It’s about my life lessons in football, and it’s really more about the ones I experienced directly.”
Dokoupil pointed out how Kraft isn’t even mentioned in the acknowledgments section, to which Belichick responded, “Correct.” It paved the way for an awkward and terse exchange about the future Pro Football Hall of Famer leaving the Patriots after 24 seasons at the helm.
Dokoupil: “Do you feel like you were treated with dignity and respect when you were let go by Robert Kraft?”

Belichick: “Well, it was a mutual decision for us to part ways.”
Dokoupil: “He said ‘fired.'”
Belichick: “It was a mutual decision.”
So, while Belichick no longer calls Foxboro, Mass., home, Patriots fans probably can expect to see the same tight-lipped Belichick they saw in front of cameras for two decades-plus in New England.
