The Patriots drafted a wide receiver on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft, and it seems like there might be an odd man in that position group.

New England selected Kyle Williams with pick No. 69 in the third round. That gave the Patriots 10 bodies in the wide receiver room after Friday.

There were rumors that the Patriots were “open to trading” Kayshon Boutte,” and ESPN’s Adam Schefter added fuel to those rumors when he viewed the wideout as expendable. However, executive vice president of player personnel shut down the idea of any deals.

“No, I see it as us being able to add depth and strength in the group,” Wolf told reporters, per a team-provided transcript. “Obviously, Stefon’s (Diggs) going to be limited as we move through the spring here, so we’re still going to give those guys as many opportunities as we can.”

New England obviously will need to cut down the wide receiver room when the roster deadline arrives. It will be up to the potential bubble candidates to try to keep their jobs in the summer during training camp.
