It’s the sleepiest time on the college football calendar, but the University of North Carolina is reportedly making a big move based on some awkward developments regarding head coach Bill Belichick.
And while it’s still a few months before the Tar Heels really kick into action ahead of Belichick’s first season in Chapel Hill, don’t expect to see Belichick’s girlfriend and de facto manager, Jordon Hudson, anywhere near the team.
The Belichick-Hudson relationship has become increasingly distracting, with a recent awkward CBS interview bringing into question the puzzling dynamic between the two. Belichick, according to one report, has started looking at other options for public relations, and it sounds like the university has seen enough, too.
According to longtime journalist and media personality Pablo Torre, UNC has laid down the law for the ball coach’s bae.
“Two sources at the University of North Carolina tell me there was a decision that was made last week by the higher-ups in the athletic department that had hired Bill Belichick to be the highest-paid public employee not just coach in the state of North Carolina at $10 million per year, that decision was that Jordon Hudson is no longer allowed in the football building. She’s not allowed on the football field,” Torre reported on his podcast “Pablo Torre Finds Out” this week.

Torre also quoted a source who told him, “Don’t think you’ll be hearing much from Jordon moving forward.”
That’s not it, though. Torre also reported there’s growing tension within Belichick’s own family about how the Hudson saga is unfolding.
“Bill Blichick’s family is extraordinarily concerned bout what has transpired,” he said on the podcast. “One Belichick family source told me ‘There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be not just for North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation — everything he has built and worked for over decades.’
” … In fact, the family has been digging into Jordon Hudson as well.”

The really interesting aspect of this, which probably won’t be answered anytime soon or ever, is how Belichick feels about these reported developments. In the past, he has been notoriously good about separating his personal and professional lives. This is a gigantic failure in that regard, but if Belichick still truly believes that, this might also be a welcome development.
