Alex Bregman isn’t far from returning to the Boston Red Sox lineup.

“We’re getting closer for him to join us,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Sunday before the team’s series finale against the San Francisco Giants, per The Boston Globe’s Tim Healey. “I’m not saying it’s going to happen this week or the week after, but it feels like it’s going to be sooner rather than later.”

Bregman has been sidelined for nearly a month after the Red Sox put him on the injured list with right quad injury May 24. Bregman hit .299 with 35 RBIs in 51 games prior to injury.

The Red Sox cap their three-game set against the Giants on Sunday but remain on the West Coast with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels. From there, Cora and company return home for a six-game homestand.

Perhaps the Fenway Faithful will get to see Bregman’s return then.
