After receiving the highly anticipated call up to Boston, Red Sox top prospect Roman Anthony will be joining the big club on Monday.
With the call up, Anthony grabbed a lot of attention, including from former Red Sox player Kevin Millar.
“I smell greatness. This isn’t a fake No. 1 prospect,” Millar told MLB Network. “When you’re looking at a kid that hits balls 500 feet and he’s kind of sneaky hot. I’ll be honest with you, I don’t know if there’s anything sneaky about him but this young man is going to have a great career.”
The 21-year-old has been a bright spot in the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox lineup throughout the 2025 season. Anthony in 58 games in Worcester batted .288 with 10 home runs and 29 RBIs while also playing outfield.
Anthony joins Marcelo Mayer in Boston who is also regarded as a top prospect for the Red Sox. Millar met with the two during spring training where they left a strong impression on him.

“I met [Anthony] March 1, we do a little bit of a thing at the Jet Blue Stadium,” Millar said. “He and Marcelo Mayer came over and they are the sweetest guys. There is a humbleness to them.”
The outfielder batted fifth in the lineup on Monday in his first game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
“I think when you have a team like the Red Sox right now, they need this energy,” Millar said.
