Fresh off of being swept by the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park over the weekend, the New York Yankees engaged in some roster shuffling on Monday when the team activated outfielder/designated hitter Giancarlo Stanton from the 60-day injured list.
Sidelined since the beginning of the 2025 season with elbow troubles, Stanton’s reintroduction to the Yankees lineup should add plenty of thump back into an already dangerous lineup. Appearing in 114 games last season, he hit .233 with 27 home runs and 72 RBI over 427 at-bats.
To make room for Stanton on the roster, the team announced that they have designated for assignment former Red Sox utility man Pablo Reyes in a corresponding move.
Reyes, who played for Boston from 2023-to-2024, struggled at the plate this season with a .194 batting average, six hits, and two RBI in 31 at-bats.
Capable of playing all over the diamond, the seven-year MLB veteran had arguably the best season of his career as a Red Sox in 2023. In 64 games, Reyes produced new career highs in batting average (.287), hits (48), doubles (nine), RBI (20), and stolen bases (nine).

After showing signs of regression last season, the team designated him for assignment on April 29 to make room for Garrett Cooper on the 40-man roster.
The Red Sox are set to begin a three-game series against the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Lucas Giolito (2-1) will oppose Logan Gilbert (1-1) in the series opener. Giolito earned a win during his last start on June 10 in a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
