Boston Bruins star goalie Jeremy Swayman sent a message to the team after a blowout loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday.
The Bruins got out to a 1-0 lead but allowed seven straight goals en route to a 7-2 loss. It was a disappointing performance from the Bruins, and after the game, Swayman said the message inside the locker room was that this was a one-off performance.
“It is not who we are, and I think that is the message we really want to send to each other,” Swayman said, as seen on NESN’s postgame coverage on Monday. “This is a one-off. It is not who we are, and we have to move forward. We have a game tomorrow and that’s what we’re going to focus on.”
Swayman finished the game, making 16 saves on 23 shots. With the loss, Swayman is now 3-4 with a 3.45 GAA and a .886 SV% on the year.
As Swayman noted, Boston gets a chance to get back on track as the Bruins will host the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Bruins head coach Marco Sturm, meanwhile, also expects a better response from the team against the Islanders on Tuesday.
”You don’t have to think about too much here right now. Just gotta move forward,” Sturm said. “We’re going to talk about tomorrow, and better have a good response tomorrow, especially at home.”
Boston is off to a 4-7 start.
