Scott Boras seemingly has been atop the Red Sox’s speed dial this offseason.
The megastar sports agent entered the offseason with a free-agent client list including Juan Soto, Alex Bregman and Corbin Burnes, among others. Boston apparently has been involved with all three, reportedly offering a 15-year, $700 million deal to Soto before the superstar landed with the New York Mets.
Boras spoke to reporters at MLB Winter Meetings in Dallas on Wednesday and confirmed he’s seen a change in Boston’s pursuit of top-of-market players.
“I have (seen a change),” Boras responded to NESN’s Tom Caron. “Ownership is directly involved. (Craig Breslow) has been certainly out to visit me a lot. And their direction and hope, I think, is registered.
“I think the results are more hopeful than what’s happened to date, but obviously they’re certainly a part of the process. It’s the Boston Red Sox, and I think a lot of players covet, value that market. They have an opportunity to be very successful.”

Bregman and Burnes, as of 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, remain available on the open market. So perhaps Boras will be hearing from the Red Sox again in the near future.
