Mac Jones had some fun Sunday against the New York Jets. That fun faded away to close the game for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jones threw for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns and had a highlight play in the first half, spinning off a New York defender to pick up a first down on the ground. But as it has happened time and time again, Jones faltered with the game on the line.

Jacksonville drove down the field trailing by a touchdown with under a minute remaining in the game. The fourth-year quarterback sailed a pass down the sideline that dropped into the hands of Jets star cornerback Sauce Gardner to seal the deal. The Jaguars fell to 3-11 with the loss.

Jones’ latest turnover sparked another flurry of criticism on X:

@KeaganStiefel: “Mac Jones is nothing if not consistent.”

The Jets finally beat Jones after the 2021 first-rounder previously went 5-0 in his first five career starts against New York, all of which came to the New England Patriots.
