Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow made a pair of additions to the rotation, and it seems other teams have since taken stock of the starting group.
Speaking to reporters at the Winter Meetings in Orlando on Monday night, Breslow revealed other teams have called about Boston’s pitching depth.
“We’ve got pitching depth, based on some of the inbound calls that we’ve received over the last couple weeks,” Breslow told reporters, per the Boston Herald’s Gabrielle Starr. “I think teams have recognized that there’s appeal to controllable starting pitching.”

Having such depth could help the Red Sox improve their roster via the offseason trade market. And Breslow confirmed Boston would be hear out any offers, especially if it would result in the Red Sox balancing out the roster. The Red Sox have plenty of holes to fill this offseason, after all.
“If there are opportunities to use some of that depth in order to address other areas of the roster, we’d be willing to do it,” Breslow said.

Breslow has raised the ceiling of the starting rotation by trading for veteran Sonny Gray and fellow right-hander Johan Oviedo. Boston has a true ace in Garrett Crochet with other top-end starters like Brayan Bello and Gray. A handful of other hurlers — Oviedo, Kutter Crawford, Patrick Sandoval, Payton Tolle, Connelly Early, Hunter Dobbins and Kyle Harrison — all offer plenty of potential, as well.
