When you win an NBA Most Valuable Player award and a championship in the same season, you earn the right to play golf with the President of the United States.

But that doesn’t guarantee he’ll go easy on you.

Stephen Curry found that out the hard way over the weekend, when he and two-time NBA champion Ray Allen joined Barack Obama for a round at Farm Neck Golf Club in Martha’s Vineyard.

Curry apparently played pretty well, but during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday, the Golden State Warriors guard revealed it wasn’t exactly a friendly round with the POTUS.

“The president was talking trash,” Curry told Kimmel. “Basically, it would be a 4-foot putt and in friendly games you’re not really playing for money or betting or anything, usually it’s a gimme.

“He’d be crickets, just silent, looking at you like ‘all right, you going to mark your putt? All right, you going to make that?’ Put the pressure on you, that kind of deal. Talk about how you’re shaking and all that kind of stuff.”

Obama also apparently worked in a jab at Allen, poking fun at the former Boston Celtic for his especially large entourage.

Moral of the story: If you get the honor of playing golf with the President, make sure you stay in the fairway.
