Ben McAdoo’s unauthorized use of a walkie-talkie likely will cost the New York Giants some money but nothing more.

NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday, via sources, that the NFL is expected to fine the Giants for their coach’s misstep in last week’s win over the Dallas Cowboys.

Rapoport noted that while league-issued walkie-talkies are allowed on the sideline during games, the backup quarterback, not the coach, can use them. However, McAdoo clearly used it to communicate with quarterback Eli Manning for about four plays after the Giants had issues with their headsets.

Schefter wrote that McAdoo’s walkie-talkie use “offended various officials in other organizations who have complained privately about it throughout the week.” You have to wonder if one of those organizations was the Pittsburgh Steelers, whom the Giants accused of playing with underinflated footballs the previous week. Still, the Giants aren’t expected to lose a draft pick for the violation, according to Schefter.
