While we won’t know if that’s the case until Friday evening, we do know that it was enough to earn the young winger Arbella Player of the Week honors.
Lucic has been an important contributor for the Bruins all playoffs, but he’s been showing up on the scoresheet with more and more frequency as the postseason rolled along. His goal on Wednesday was his third of the postseason, bringing his points total to seven in 12 games. Add in his bruising physical play resembling that of the guy Bruins fans got to know last year.
“I think Lucic’s game is starting to come around and he’s been a lot stronger on the puck,” head coach Claude Julien said this week, according to the Boston Herald. “He seems to be moving his feet much better and he’s been a pretty good player for us.”
Lucic’s goal in Game 6 was his second in three games, but it was his assist in Game 3 that helped allow the Bruins to get a 3-0 lead to begin with. Though Mike Richards‘ hit on David Krejci caught most everybody’s attention, Lucic kept his focus on the puck and found Miroslav Satan streaking to the net. The veteran winger buried it, and it proved to be the game-winner.
