Boston College Likely To Be Heavy Favorite Against Maine After USC Win

Coming off a huge upset victory last weekend, the Boston College Eagles will have a low-key matchup Saturday afternoon as they play host to the CAA’s Maine Black Bears at Alumni Stadium. The game had yet to receive a betting line at the sportsbooks as of late Thursday.

Boston College improved to 2-1 both straight up and against the spread on the season last weekend when they shocked the visiting USC Trojans with a 37-31 win despite being a 17-point underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Eagles were coming off a 30-20 loss to Pittsburgh after they’d thumped Massachusetts by a 30-7 final score in their first game of the season.

Boston College got a visit from Maine back in 2012, handily winning that game 34-3.

Kickoff for Maine at Boston College is set for 1 p.m. ET on Saturday afternoon, but the day’s top ACC matchup starts at 8 p.m. when No. 1 Florida State hosts No. 22 Clemson.

The Seminoles are listed as 14.5-point favorites against the Tigers for their Saturday night meeting, but that line has fallen from its opening level thanks to the suspension the team handed down to starting quarterback (and defending Heisman Trophy winner) Jameis Winston on Wednesday. Winston won’t play until the start of the second half of the contest.

Florida State is 2-0 SU but 0-2 ATS on the season as it tries to continue its march to another national championship, while Clemson is 1-1 both SU and ATS thanks to its loss at Georgia by a 45-21 score in the season opener. When these two schools met last season, the Seminoles rolled to a 51-14 victory over the Tigers as a 4.5-point favorite on the road.

Elsewhere on Saturday, No. 3 Alabama plays host to Florida, while No. 2 Oregon is at Washington State and No. 4 Oklahoma is at West Virginia. The Crimson Tide are 14-point favorites against the Gators, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com, with the Ducks a 23.5-point favorite against the Cougars, and the Sooners an 8.5-point favorite against the Mountaineers.
