Celtics’ NBA Title Odds Set At 150-1, Third-Worst In Eastern Conference
The official NBA playoff odds are out, and to no one’s surprise, the Boston Celtics’ chances of winning the league championship are not particularly favorable.
Sportsbooks monitored by Bovada peg the Celtics as 150-1 underdogs to win a title this season.
Bookmakers feel more confident about Boston’s chances, however, than those of a few other Eastern Conference playoff participants. The Brooklyn Nets’ championship odds are set at 200-1, and the Milwaukee Bucks are the lowest in the field at 250-1.
The seventh-seeded Celtics will face an immensely difficult matchup right out of the gate, as their first-round opponent will be LeBron James and the No. 2 seed Cleveland Cavaliers. As of Thursday, the Cavs were favored by 11 1/2 points in Game 1 of that series, per Bovada.
The Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors — who also are favored by 11 1/2 over the New Orleans Pelicans in Game 1 of their series — both own 11-5 odds to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy.
