College Football Odds: Boston College Heavily Favored Over Howard In Week 2
The Boston College Eagles will gun for their second consecutive win of the season when they play host to the Howard Bison on Saturday in Week 2 college football action.
The Eagles opened their 2015 season last weekend with a 24-3 win over the Maine Black Bears, improving to 8-4 straight up in their past dozen meetings with non-conference opponents but failing to cover as heavy 27-point favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Saturday afternoon’s Bison vs. Eagles betting matchup at Alumni Stadium marks the first all-time meeting between the schools and just Howard’s fourth meeting with an FBS squad since the start of the 2013 season.
Howard is 0-3 SU in its three previous contests against the FBS but put a scare into Rutgers in an early season meeting a year ago, tallying four rushing touchdowns in a 38-25 loss to the Scarlet Knights but covering as a heavy 38-point underdog.
The first matchup between Atlantic Coast Conference rivals this season also is on the Week 2 schedule, as the Syracuse Orange play host to the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as slim 3.5-point betting favorites.
Both squads posted victories in Week 1, with the Orange cruising to a 47-0 rout of the Rhode Island Rams, covering as 33.5-point favorites, while the Demon Deacons amassed 591 total yards in a 41-3 demolition of the Elon Phoenix, picking up the against-the-spread win as 27-point favorites.
However, the Demon Deacons have struggled against Syracuse since the Orange joined the ACC in 2013, scoring just seven total points in two SU losses, extending their overall losing streak against the school to three games and their ATS skid to four.
In other Week 2 action around the ACC, the Florida State Seminoles, ranked No. 11 in the AP Top 25, play host to the South Florida Bulls as strong 28.5-point favorites.
No. 12 Clemson takes on the Appalachian State Mountaineers as 19-point favorites, while the No. 15 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will gun for a ninth consecutive ATS victory when they meet the Tulane Green Wave as huge 29.5-point favorites.
And the Virginia Cavaliers continue a challenging schedule, which opens with back-to-back games against nationally ranked squads. The Cavaliers will look to bounce back from a 34-16 Week 1 loss to No. 13 UCLA when they play host to No. 9 Notre Dame on Saturday as 12.5-point home underdogs.
