Patriots Open As 7.5-Point Favorites Against Colts In ‘Revenge Game’

The opening line for the New England Patriots’ next game might have some fans raising their eyebrows.

The Patriots impressively dismantled a decimated Dallas Cowboys team Sunday deep in the heart of Texas, and fans wasted no time turning their attention to a highly anticipated Week 6 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.

Many are billing Sunday night’s clash in Indy as a “revenge game” for the Patriots. After all, the seemingly never-ending Deflategate saga started in the AFC Championship Game against the Colts, and many (especially within the six New England states) see the Colts as responsible for starting that whole mess.

With that in mind, plus the Patriots’ early dominance juxtaposed by the Colts’ early-season struggles, one might assume the Las Vegas line for the grudge match might be real high, even with New England on the road. So some might be surprised to see that Patriots opened as “only” 7 1/2-point favorites, according to OddsShark.

Now, it’s almost certain that line changes as the week goes on. As more money comes in on the Patriots — which it probably will — you can expect that line to grow even more. There’s also uncertainty surrounding the Colts’ quarterback position. Andrew Luck’s missed the last two weeks with a shoulder injury, and even if he plays, it’s unlikely he’ll be at 100 percent.

The Patriots have won their four games by an average of almost 21 points, and they’re 3-0-1 against the spread this season, according to OddsShark.
