It appears Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots won’t be the last contest Peyton Manning will miss due to his recent injury.

Manning met with foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson, who recommended that Manning wear a walking boot for at least a week, on Monday. The Denver Broncos also announced that Manning will miss at least the next two weeks as he recovers from a partially torn plantar fascia.

That likely means Brock Osweiler will be under center when the Broncos play the San Diego Chargers in Week 13, in addition to Sunday’s date with the Patriots. Osweiler led the Broncos to a 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 11.

“Peyton and I had a good visit today, and we’ve got a plan in place for his recovery,” Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said, via the team’s official website. “His foot will be in a cast for at least a week, but he’ll be able to be part of meetings and do some workouts with the rest of the team.

“We expect him to be unavailable for at least a couple of games. We’ll proceed from there and will continue to support him as he does everything he can to get healthy.”
