UPDATE (4 p.m. ET): The NFL announced Odell Beckham has been suspended one game. He reportedly will appeal the decision.

ORIGINAL STORY: Odell Beckham Jr.’s inability to control his emotions could end up costing his team dearly.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday the NFL still is weighing its options, but the New York Giants wide receiver is expected to receive a one-game suspension for his actions Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Beckham and Carolina cornerback Josh Norman went back and forth all afternoon, with a lot of their battle spilling over beyond the whistles. No instance was worse, however, than Beckham’s helmet-to-helmet hit on Norman as a play was ending. The predatory hit went unflagged, but the NFL doesn’t appear ready to let it slide.

Here’s a look at the play:

The Giants are tied for second place in the NFC East, only one game behind the Washington Redskins and still very much alive in the playoff race. The Giants go on the road to face the Minnesota Vikings in Week 16 before finishing the season with a home game against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are tied with New York in second place.
