The Boston Celtics will look for just their second win in their past six meetings with Portland when they host the surging Trail Blazers on Wednesday as 5 1/2-point betting favorites at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Boston rides an 11-game straight-up winning streak at home into Wednesday night’s Trail Blazers vs. Celtics betting matchup at TD Garden, but has struggled against Portland over the past three years, claiming just one SU win and two against the spread victories in its past five meetings.

The Celtics found a way to beat Portland in their last clash, claiming a razor-thin 90-89 win in Rip City in January of last year, getting the outright victory as seven-point underdogs and ending the Trail Blazers’ dominance, which had seen them win the previous four by an average margin of over eight points per game.

The Trail Blazers will have their hands full against a Boston squad that has been unbeatable at home. The club’s torrid streak at TD Garden has directly fueled its rise up the NBA’s Eastern Conference standings, where the Celtics are in sole possession of third place, 4 1/2 games back of the second-place Toronto Raptors and seven back of the first-place Cleveland Cavaliers.

With ATS wins in nine of their past 11, the Celtics have also become an increasingly reliable bet on the home hardwood, reversing a trend that saw them cover in just nine of their first 20 home contests.

Portland’s visit to Boston marks the fourth stop on its current six-game Eastern road trip, and its third contest in four nights.

The Trail Blazers are coming off a 104-83 win over the New York Knicks as five-point chalk on Tuesday, improving their overall record to 33-28, and maintaining a grip on sixth place in the Western Conference.

Since enduring a miserable 11-20 SU start to the season the Trail Blazers have caught fire, going 22-8 SU since Christmas Day, including their current 14-2 SU run, and are an impressive 8-1 in their past nine on the road, both SU and ATS, and 5-1 SU in their past six as road underdogs, according to the OddsShark NBA Database.

Following their date with Portland on Wednesday, the Celtics wrap up their current homestand with a visit from the New York Knicks on Friday before traveling to Cleveland for a Saturday clash with the Cavaliers.

Boston has taken five of its past six against the Knicks, 4-2 ATS, including two of three so far this season, and ended a five-game losing streak against the Cavaliers with a 104-103 win in Cleveland on Feb. 5, claiming the victory as 6 1/2-point underdogs.
