Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire: Last-Minute Adds, Drops For Your Lineup

Unless you had the San Diego Chargers’ kicker, your Week 6 got off to a pretty underwhelming start on the fantasy front Thursday night.

Fortunately for you, there’s still a slate of games Sunday and Monday night to make up for that, and there could be some players on the waiver wire who can give your team a last-minute boost.

Let’s check out some last-minute add/drop options for Week 6.

ADD
Alex Smith, QB, Kansas City Chiefs
Smith isn’t flashy, but he’s playing an Oakland Raiders team that’s allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing QBs this season, and he’s been throwing the ball a good amount this year. He’s worthy of a spot start if you need it.

James White, RB, New England Patriots
White’s value is in his pass-catching ability, which is on the rise now that Tom Brady is back. A decent home matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals makes White a solid add, especially in PPR formats.

Cameron Meredith, WR, Chicago Bears
Meredith looks like Chicago’s No. 2 receiver after Kevin White’s injury and put up big numbers in Week 5. That could be a flash in the pan, but he gets a great matchup in Week 6 against the Jacksonville Jaguars’ leaky pass defense.

Jesse James, TE, Pittsburgh Steelers
James still is available in over 50 percent of most leagues after scoring touchdowns in consecutive weeks. He has a good chance to make it three in a row at home against a mediocre Miami Dolphins defense.

Chicago Bears Defense
Yes, the Bears are bad, but their defense has a great matchup at home against the Jaguars, who already have committed seven turnovers and allowed 12 sacks through four games this season.

DROP
Kirk Cousins, QB, Washington Redskins
Cousins is coming off a stinker in Week 5, and we do not like his Week 6 matchup against a Philadelphia Eagles defense that’s surrendered the second-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this year.

Jay Ajayi, RB, Miami Dolphins
Ajayi hasn’t done a whole lot in Arian Foster’s absence, and the four-time Pro Bowl running back is set to return this Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s time to cut bait on Ajayi.

Philip Dorsett, WR, Indianapolis Colts
The Miami product has seen just three targets in each of his last two games and is looking more like a boom-or-bust play. On the road against a tough Houston Texans defense, we’re calling bust.

Eric Ebron, TE, Detroit Lions
Ebron has been underwhelming since catching a touchdown in Detroit’s season opener. He also has a tough matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, who have been solid against opposing tight ends this year.

Cincinnati Bengals Defense
Tom Brady’s return does not bode well for any defense that faces him. Just ask the Cleveland Browns.
