Lamar Miller Injury: Should Fantasy Owners Be Concerned Over Texans Running Back?

Houston Texans running back Lamar Miller hasn’t been a huge disappointment for fantasy football owners this season, but he hasn’t exactly met expectations, either.

The 25-year-old star has two 100-yard games as a runner, with just 20 receptions for 117 yards as a receiver. That’s not the dual-threat production fantasy owners expected when they took Miller in the first two or three rounds of their league’s draft.

What are the chances he turns it around in Week 8 against the Detroit Lions?

Well, Miller has been questionable with a shoulder injury for most of the week, and Texans head coach Bill O’Brien provided an update Friday.

Even if Miller is less than 100 percent this week, he still should be able to produce enough fantasy points against a Lions defense giving up 4.6 yards per carry, fourth-most in the league. Detroit also has allowed 111.4 rushing yards per game.

There’s no question Houston is a better team when Miller is the focal point of the offense. The Texans have a 3-1 record when he’s given 20 or more carries.

This Texans-Lions matchup has the potential to be a high-scoring game, so make sure you start Miller if he’s healthy, especially if your league uses PPR scoring. He’s a flex play at the very least.
