The Bruins signed four players on Thursday.
Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk and forward Jeff LoVecchio were signed to one-year deals, and forward Gregory Campbell and defenseman Adam McQuaid were inked to two-year contracts.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Bodnarchuk has played almost exclusively for the Providence Bruins, but saw the ice in five games as a member of Boston last season. The 22-year-old spent played in 70 games for Providence and tallied 15 points on five goals and 10 assists. He also racked up 51 PIMs. Bodnarchuk added a goal and nine assists in his first year with Providence in the 2008-09 season.
LoVecchio has skated for Providence for the last two years, showing marked improvement in his sophomore campaign. After totaling only three goals and two assists in his first year in the AHL, the 24-year-old forward scored 15 goals and added nine assists in 65 games for Providence in the 2009-10 season. LoVecchio also missed the entire 2008-09 season with a concussion, making last season’s output that much more impressive.
Gregory Campbell, a 26-year-old forward, has been around in the NHL much more than the other signings, playing six years with the Florida Panthers. He scored two goals and added 15 assists in 60 games last season and has 85 career points (29 goals, 56 assists), all with Florida. Campbell came over with Nathan Horton in the Panthers-Bruins trade for Boston’s first-round draft pick.
Adam McQuaid, a 23-year-old defenseman, split time between Boston and Providence last year, scoring one goal in 19 games while in Boston. He also skated in 32 games for Providence, adding three goals and seven assists while in the AHL. At 6-foot-5, 209 pounds, McQuaid offers a more defensive presence to the Bruins’ back line.
