Irving is a great player, but there’s no question James continues to be the best player in the NBA. Both will have no trouble pacing their teams in a postseason series and each has shown their respective abilities to show up in big games.
LeBron has the track record and experience being the focal point of a team on the biggest of stages, and should the Celtics make a deep playoff run, this will be Irving’s first opportunity to do that as the go-to guy. While it’s tough to imagine Irving would do anything other than thrive in that role, there’s no questioning LeBron in the postseason.
