Expectations were high when the Red Sox promoted Bogaerts from Pawtucket in late August. The 21-year-old was up to the challenge, though, playing a major role in Boston’s run to a World Series title and cementing his place in the Sox’ infield for years to come. Bogaerts was especially valuable in his first taste of playoff action, appearing in 12 of the team’s 16 postseason games. He ranked third on the roster in average (.296) and runs scored (nine) in postseason play, and second behind David Ortiz in both on-base percentage and OPS.
