On March 21, 1984, with only a handful of paid subscribers tuning
in, NESN came to life with a spring training game against the Detroit
Tigers from Florida. The company has experienced incredible growth
since its humble beginnings to become the most-watched sports network
in New England and the highest-rated regional sports network in the
country, available in over four million homes throughout the six-state
region. The network’s award-winning production team was the first
regional to deliver every MLB and NHL game and every studio program in
high definition.
Beginning in March 2008, NESN celebrates its 25th year with special programming throughout the year.
