Canadiens Sign Goalie Sanford to One-Year Deal

Are the Canadiens ever going to run out of money? Or are they just not spending a lot on the five million players they've netted over the past three weeks?

Bob Gainey added another name to his offseason acquisition list on Monday, locking up goalie Curtis Sanford to a one-year deal.

In 35 starts with Vancouver in 2008-09, the 29-year-old posted an 11-11-1 record with a 2.69 goals against average. He spent 16 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL and went 7-3-3 with a 1.73 GAA and two shutouts.

Throughout five seasons in the NHL, Sanford has spent time with St. Louis and Vancouver and has posted a 37-37 record with a 2.76 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

The Canadiens spent the 2008-09 season breaking in 21-year-old netminder Carey Price, who submitted a 23-16 record with a 2.83 GAA and one shutout before struggling against Boston in the playoffs, allowing 15 goals in four games.
