In the AL, Halladay beat out Kansas City’s Zack Greinke, who was the most likely alternative with a 10-5 record and a 2.12 ERA. Josh Beckett and Tim Wakefield lead the AL in wins, but Beckett pitched on Sunday and Wakefield’s ERA is 4.31.
In the NL, Lincecum got the call over 11-game winner Jason Marquis and Johan Santana, who is 10-7 with a 3.09 ERA. Dan Haren has the lowest ERA of NL starters at 2.01.
