The party’s over for Antoine Walker.
On Tuesday, authorities in Las Vegas, Nev., issued a warrant for the
former NBA star because he had incurred $822,500 in gambling debts. A
report on Rotoworld.com indicates that Walker was arrested on Wednesday evening at Harrah’s Casino in Lake Tahoe.
What a fall from grace for Boston’s beloved ‘Toine. Could you imagine watching him leave a casino in handcuffs?
That’s how authorities escorted him out of the casino before bringing him to Douglas County Jail, where bail was set at $87,000.
The drama began when the 32-year-old former forward was accused of
passing bad checks in Vegas, resulting in three felony counts.
According to the Las Vegas Sun, he wrote 10 separate $100,000 checks
with insufficient funds from July 27 to Jan. 19.
In seven seasons in Boston, Walker appeared in the All-Star Game
three times (1998, 2002, and 2003). Throughout the entirety of his
12-year career — which included a championship run with the Miami Heat
— he averaged 17.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
