Pollard Nearly Takes Out Cassel’s Knee at Practice

Bernard Pollard just can't quit his knee-hunting habit.

The Kansas City safety, who, you might remember, ended Tom Brady's season before it properly began, is back at it, this time targeting Brady's former backup turned teammate in Matt Cassel.

SI.com's Peter King wrote that during practice last week in River Falls, Wis., a blitzing Pollard avoided a block from a running back, losing his balance and sending him hurtling directly toward the knee of Cassel.

"A couple of [Cassel's] offensive mates hustled in to defend him against Pollard," King wrote. "Words were exchanged, but that was it. No harm, no foul."

Pollard recognized the similarity to last year's hit on Brady.

"I got to the sidelines after that play," Pollard told King, "and I realized what happened, and I thought, — Oh my God! It's like a replay.''

The only difference was that in this replay, Cassel walked away relatively unscathed, while the hit on Brady had just a slightly more significant effect.
