Jets Finalize Roster, Add Former Patriot Larry Izzo

The Jets are ready to make a run at the AFC East title in 2009.

New York finalized its 53-man roster on Saturday, and while head coach Rex Ryan knows roster moves will be made early and often throughout the course of the regular season, he's happy with the group he has right now.

"I don't really think this is our final roster, but certainly it is today, so we'll see what happens," he told The Associated Press. "Maybe on Tuesday, there's a possibility our roster could look different."

Former Patriot Larry Izzo made the cut, as did bubble player Danny Woodhead, who ran for 158 yards and two touchdowns during Thursday's exhibition game against Philadelphia.

"I think Woodhead earned that spot," Ryan told the AP. "I don't know what he could've done more in trying to claim a job. I htought the guy did a tremendous job for us."

New York cut 19 players prior to Saturday's 6 p.m. deadline, including fullback Jehuu Caulcrick, linebacker Kenwin Cummings, tight end Kevin Brock and wide receiver Marcus Henry. Calvin Pace will spend the first four games of the season on the reserve-suspended list after violating the league's policy on performance-enhancers, and Shaun Ellis will miss the first game after being arrested for marijuana possession in November.
