Bruins’ Milan Lucic Undergoes Successful Surgery on Broken Finger

Let the recovery begin for Milan Lucic.

The Bruins forward underwent successful surgery to repair a broken right index finger, according to general manager Peter Chiarelli. The surgery was performed by Dr. Matthew Leibman at Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday, Oct. 18. Lucic was placed on long-term injured reserve, retroactive to Oct. 16, and should be out for 4-6 weeks.

The 21-year-old was injured in Friday's 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars, which prompted the Bruins to call up Guillaume Lefebvre from Providence to replace him on the roster for Saturday's game against the Coyotes.

Lucic skated in six games this season and registered three assists. Last year, Lucic played in 72 games and registered 17 goals and 25 assists for 42 points and a plus-17 rating.
