Marc Savard Sparks Bruins as Arbella Player of the Week

It wasn't an excellent week for the Bruins, but Marc Savard provided reason to believe the B's will turn it around this season, earning Arbella Player of the Week honors in the process.

The 32-year-old center leads the Bruins with five points. His third-period goal last Saturday night against the New York Islanders at the TD Garden was the first in an amazing comeback. Trailing 3-0 and staring a 1-3 record in the face, Savard collected a loose puck in the face-off circle and fired a top-shelf slapshot over Islanders goalie Dwayne Roloson with 7:59 left in the game.

It turned out to be the spark the Bruins needed, as they clawed back to tie the game in regulation and eventually win in a shootout.

If the Bruins are to return to their 2008-09 form, Savard, who led the team in points last year, will undoubtedly be the one leading the charge.
