The 32-year-old center leads the Bruins with five points. His third-period goal last Saturday night against the New York Islanders at the TD Garden was the first in an amazing comeback. Trailing 3-0 and staring a 1-3 record in the face, Savard collected a loose puck in the face-off circle and fired a top-shelf slapshot over Islanders goalie Dwayne Roloson with 7:59 left in the game.
It turned out to be the spark the Bruins needed, as they clawed back to tie the game in regulation and eventually win in a shootout.
If the Bruins are to return to their 2008-09 form, Savard, who led the team in points last year, will undoubtedly be the one leading the charge.
