Live Blog: New Hampshire at Boston University

Final – UNH 3, BU 3: An exciting game to end the Hockey East weekend and NESN's coverage between the Wildcats and Terriers.

With the tie, UNH improves to 4-6-3 on the season, and BU 3-7-1.

Thanks to everyone who followed the action with the live blog, and don't forget to come back for the next college hockey game on NESN.

Overtime, 0:00, Tied 3-3: That will do it from Agganis Arena as the Hockey East rivals end their second game in two nights with a tie.

Overtime, 1:38, Tied 3-3: BU kills off their fifth penalty in six chances. Nice save by Bonino to help out Rollheiser, and a nice save on the other end by Foster against Andrew Glass.

Overtime, 4:49, Tied 3-3: Warsofsky gets called for cross-checking on a rare overtime penalty. BU takes a timeout following the call.

Third period, 0:00, Tied 3-3: We are headed to overtime after a last second attempt by BU gets stopped.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

Third period, 1:00, Tied 3-3: BU with a ton of chances in the crease, but the Terriers are unable to find the back of the net.

Third period, 3:54, Tied 3-3: UNH is pouring on the pressure here in the final minutes, as BU is just playing to clear the puck out of their own zone. The Moses-Sislo combination is causing problems for the BU defense.

Third period, 8:08, Tied 3-3: And there is the break BU needed. A questionable penalty call on UNH (possibly a call to even the power plays) allows Corey Trivino to tie the game with a power-play goal.

Third period, 8:46, UNH 3-2: And just like that BU gets a power play on a questionable call.

Third period, 9:12, UNH 3-2: BU has had its fair shares of chances to even the score again, but a few wide shots right in front have them still trailing. UNH has stayed discpline in the third, not letting BU get back into the game with a bad penalty.

Third period, 13:55, UNH 3-2: It took five power plays, but UNH finally broke through with the man advantage. Paul Thompson gets his second goal of the game with a deflection in front. UNH improves to 1-for-5 on the PP in the game, and the Wildcats have their second lead of the game.

Third period, 14;52, Tied 2-2: Another BU penalty. This one is on Chiasson for slashing. Apparently evening it up doesn't exist in this game as UNH now leads in man advantages 5-1.

Third period, 16:53, Tied 2-2: UNH gets its fourth power play of the night and for the fourth time they come up short. Excellent work by BU on the kill, and a good job by the Terriers to prevent UNH from taking control of the game with a go-ahead power-play goal.

Third period, 19:40, Tied 2-2: Whatever UNH talked about during the second intermission worked. 20 seconds into the third and Phil DeSimone ties the game up. The first goal of the season for DeSimone comes at the perfect time for the Wildcats. New game with 19:40 to play.

Second period, 0:00, BU 2-1: UNH might have controlled the play longer in the period, but BU came away with the only goal in the second to take a lead. The defense on both ends of the ice has been solid, and special teams will likely play a role in the third in a one-goal game.

Second period, 3:04, BU 2-1: UNH kills off the penalty, but a nifty move by Vinny Saponari gives the Terriers a 2-1 lead. After a bunch of great saves by Foster, a weak no-angle shot finds its way past him to give BU the lead.

Second period, 5:14, Tied 1-1: With over a minute of pressure in the UNH zone, the hard work pays off for BU as they go on their first PP.

Second period, 6:31, Tied 1-1: Not much happening offensively in the second. The majority of the play has been kept along the boards and in the neutral zone. Credit both defenses for stepping up after playing on back-to-back nights.

Second period, 11:01, Tied 1-1: BU improves to 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and captures some momentum halfway through the second.

Second period, 13:01, Tied 1-1: BU gets its their penalty of the night, and at some point the UNH power play will break through. Also at some point, you would think a call would have to go against UNH.

Second period, 16:07, Tied 1-1: BU has done a good job controlling the play through the first few minutes of the second. UNH is having trouble breaking out, and the Wildcats are unsuccessfully wrapping the puck around the boards to try and get a change.

Second period, Tied 1-1, 19:10: BU manages to kill off the UNH power play again, improving to 2-for-2 on the kill in the game. At some point the refs will even the score, and BU will have a chance to take the lead on the man advantage.

First period, Tied 1-1, 0:00: An evenly-matched game after 20 minutes of play. UNH will start the second with 50 seconds left on the power play, looking to take their second lead of the game.

First period, 1:55, Tied 1-1: BU kills off the first penalty of the game and misses taking the lead during the kill. Joey Pereira moved in all alone from the right side on Foster, but was caught up to before he could get a decent move off.

First period, 5:04, Tied 1-1: David Warsofsky ties it up with a shot from the top of the circles past Foster. It's Warsofsky's third goal of the season, as the converted forward makes the coaching staff's decision to move him up to wing look good.

First period, 5:35, UNH 1-0: The long break didn't hurt either team's momentum as UNH had a few shots to make it a two-goal game, but Rollheiser turned away the Wildcats' chances.

First period, 8:25, UNH 1-0: A TV timeout settles the high-tempo pace of the game. Foster has stood on his head early for UNH, stopping several shots on the doorstop, and a pair of them from Bonino before the break.

First period, 11:45, UNH 1-0: Nick Bonino, Alex Chiasson and David Warsofsky had BU's most effective shift through the first eight-plus minutes of the first period with some creative cycling and a few chances in the slot.

First period, 14:37, UNH 1-0: And just like that Paul Thompson gets UNH on the board with his fourth goal of the season, as his deflected shot finds the back of the net. It wasn't the prettiest of goals, but it got the job done. An early 1-0 hole for the Terriers.

First period, 15:42: The UNH line combination of Mike Sislo, Peter LeBlanc and Stevie Moses features a great deal of speed, and it was shown on their last shift. The trio created confusion in the neutral zone to lead to an odd-man rush and the first quality scoring chance of the game for either team. That line will likely have a say in this game before it's over.

First period, 17:44: Bobby Butler making things happen as usual with a shot from the right side on Rollheiser. An undrafted senior, Butler has 15 points (10-5) in 12 games this season to lead UNH.

7:06 p.m.: About to get under way at Agganis Arena. Here are the goalie matchups:

UNH
Brian Foster
, 4-6-2, 3.78 GAA, .880 SV%

BU
Grant Rollheiser
, 1-0-0, 4.01 GAA, .862 SV%

6:20 p.m.: After falling to New Hampshire (4-6-2) on Friday night in Durham, Boston University (3-7-0) will try for a series split against the Wildcats on Saturday night on Commonwealth Ave.

Sitting near the bottom of the Hockey East, the Terriers find themselves in unfamiliar territory after winning the national title last spring.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats are sitting pretty atop the conference standings, even though they have won just twice in their last seven games.

Follow the BU-UNH action all game long on Saturday night, as NESN brings you live coverage of the Hockey East from Agganis Arena.
