Damien Woody won two Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, and he’s ready to win another with the New York Jets. According to the New York Post, the right tackle echoed his supremely confident coach Rex Ryan by saying that Sunday’s divisional-round playoff game in San Diego is not “our final destination.”
"We're one step closer to where we want to be at,” said Woody, who played his college ball at Boston College, in the Post. "We're not in it to win one game, and that's it. We're in it to win the whole thing."
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Ryan presented his players with a schedule that went all the way up to a Super Bowl victory parade on Feb. 9. The move was met with great enthusiasm from most of the Jets, Woody included.
"When guys saw that, that's all the motivation anybody needed," Woody told the newspaper. "Rex is so confident and believes in our team so much, he wanted to put it out there and let guys know: This thing is tangible, it can be done, let's get to work and take it one game at a time."
Woody was drafted in the first round, 17th overall, by the Patriots in 1999 and was the starting center on the 2001 and 2003 title-winning squads. He missed Super Bowl XXXVIII against the Carolina Panthers with a knee injury, though, and then signed with the Detroit Lions that offseason. This is his second season with the Jets.
