Michael Jordan Hosts Golf Tournament in the Bahamas

What do CC Sabathia, Eric Dickerson and Brandi Chastain have in common? All three participated in the Michael Jordan Celebrity Golf Invitational in the Bahamas.

Jordan was happy to host the event.

"I love golf, and I love the Bahamas," the hoops legend told The Bahamas Weekly. "I can't think of a better location than the Ocean Club Golf Course and Atlantis, Paradise Island for my seventh annual golf tournament. January is the best time of the year to be in The Bahamas. The weather is fantastic, and the competition is always fierce."

Jordan's event raised money for various charities, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which received $140,000 following the event. Make-A-Wish Foundation president and chief executive officer David Williams was grateful for the charitable donation and hopes it will have a similar impact as last year's contribution.

"We are honored to receive this generous donation from Michael, Kerzner International and everyone involved with the Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational," Williams told EuroInvestor. "Last year's contribution from this terrific event funded the wishes of nearly 30 children with life-threatening medical conditions. They were able to enjoy unforgettable moments and the hope, strength and joy that come with a wish experience."

The event, which ran from Jan. 17 to Jan. 24, raised more than $500,000.
